lyrics

Cognitive dissonance

The world is going to hell in a basket.
“Aber alles in Ordnung hier,”
Says my German friend
But here everything is ok
He says in appreciation of our quiet neighborhood
The woman living next door to me
Tells me about the “cognitive dissonance” she experiences
Driving through these beautiful streets
While listening to the war reports on the radio
I too feel the same dissonance
Life is filled with parallel realities
Separated by no more than a thin membrane
Horror is the other face of beauty
If we stay still and look inside
We will see beyond six degrees
The chain is nothing but a thread
What makes me human is the
Humanity I see reflected in you
